Regulators have been forced to close shrimp fishery’s at the Gulf of Maine. They were forced to do this because of the overfishing of shrimp. There were barely any shrimp left in the Gulf to be caught. This will increase the price of shrimp in supermarkets.
The overfishing have severely hurt the ecosystem in the Gulf. Overfishing has played a big role but also because of climate change, the plankton which are the main food source for the shrimp have moved to other areas which also could mean the shrimp have moved elsewhere.
